Editorial reviews
Amazon.co.uk reviewIt's never too long between Paul "The Modfather" Weller albums. Yet the starlet's prolific solo output over the last decade or so hasn’t often reached the artistic heights of his work with The Jam or The Style Council. While consistent enough, recent projects have been marred by a certain complacency - a tendency to settle for the middle ground instead of the soaring, surprising heights of yesteryear. But on i22 Dreams/i, some of the old punk fire returns. Buoyed by a stellar Britpop cast including former Blur guitarist Graham Coxon and Oasis members Noel Gallagher and Gem Archer, i22 Dreams/i is the sound of Weller finally taking an unexpected artistic leap after a series of steady steps. Working across a wide range of genres--rock, funk, soul, free jazz, krautrock, classical music, electronica, even spoken word--Weller presents an hour-plus odyssey full of eccentric surprises and loveable chaos. From the blue-eyed soul of "Have You Made Up Your Mind?" and the eerily brilliant "Echoes Around the Sun" (a Weller/Gallagher collaboration), to experimental offerings such as "111" and acid-folk opener "Light Nights", Weller digs deep into his magician's hat, and pulls out rabbit after rabbit. Some of the more off-the-wall moments--"God" for example--won't be for everyone, but the way everything collides together in a haphazard, devil-may-care manner serves to remind us that we should never write off our beloved veterans – you never know when they’re going to take an unexpected artistic risk.--iDanny McKenna/i

superb! This is great and profound pleasure, rich in influences and personal style, a perfect mix of rock, jazz, soul, through the eyes and ears of a great song maker and singer. Perhaps Weller's best!

best since wildwoodThere seems to be some mixed reviews for this album yet its the most interesting thing Weller has possibly ever done. Its a great album to play all the way through a bit like a concept album but importantly the songs are top quality. I've not been a fan of everything Weller has done solo and for me his best album by some distance is Wildwood. A lot of fuss was made about Stanley Road which undoubtedly has some brilliant moments but i think its more about the feel of that album and the time it came out. 22 Dreams is a much stronger record than Stanley Road for quality but it takes a few listens to get your head around the mixture of styles. Its well worth investing your hard earned in this though as with each listen it comes together more and more. Definetly one of the best albums of 2008-buy it now for goodness sakes.

A Great Big F-You To The I-Pod GenerationThis is one of the greatest albums ever made and definitely a career highlight for Weller. An album that is best enjoyed in one sitting, Weller takes you on a journey through psychdelia, folk, jazz, soul and rock. Perfect summer listening!

Diverse AND good... Really good. This is one of the most varied albums by Changing Man. Really diverse in it's mood, style and performance. IMHO, this is Paul Weller at his best: trying to breath some new air and succeeding.

br /I'll always love Wild Wood, a perfect record of "classic" Rock 'N Roll (with lots of different influences throughout). Wild Wood is still my favourite by Weller (and probably will always be), but 22 Dreams comes close in second. And as far as diversity is concerned, 22 Dreams surpass it. And, although each song has a different feel, the album holds extremely well as a whole.

br /And this is not a merely a diverse album: it's diverse and good, actually great. In short: another Weller's masterpiece.

br /Other retailers seem to have 22 tracks on this album - Amazon have only sold me 21. It is a great price, but I suggest shopping around, at least you will get all the tracks!
