Dyson!!! Off you go you petulant child!!!
Firstly, I will address some of the negative comments on this product.

Too heavy - If you have or have had a Dyson, your biceps will be pretty much bulging from lugging around that; this is no heavier. My wife is a petit 5'2" and it doesn't seem to bother her much.

To expensive - Have you seen the price of other brands???

Marks hard wood flooring - Must have rolled it through mud, because I have hardwood flooring and it hasn't made a single scratch.

Too noisy - It's a vaccum cleaner! What do you expect? It is quieter than my old Dyson.

Plus points:
Could sook a golf ball through a garden hose. Keep it away from small animals and childen as you might lose them as you laugh in glee at how much extra "stuff" this thing sucks up. Poor wee faces spinning aroung in the clear cyclone system chamber. It is a seriously powerfull machine. Hence the weight I presume.

It has more connectors and attachments than R2-D2, including a mini stair cleaner that should be reason alone to buy it.

It has a cool blue light that possibly has a reason other than looking cool, but no idea what it is.

The hepa filter keeps the wee airborne particles out of the air. I cannot believe the difference this makes!

As you can tell I like this product, but I believe it to be a machine that certainly equals that of its more pricey rivals and in many aspects does it better. Well done VAX, you've converted me.

Disloyal to Dyson?
We've had Dyson cleaners since 1994 and enthused about them to friends. So when our existing one needed renewing, we anticipated getting another. However, the high cost of one compared to the offer on the Vax prompted us to take a gamble. We've only just started using the Vax and so far we've no regrets. The results are excellent, including pet hair removal and cleaning to the edge. Using it for the first time made us feel a bit disloyal to Dyson, but the financial savings counteracted that easily enough!

Two minor quibbles that wouldn't have stopped us buying it but where we say 'but on the Dyson...': Firstly, all too easily the cord gets in the way while cleaning and would benefit from being able to be hooked onto the handle higher up; secondly, it lacks an easy second hand-hold for carrying up stairs.

On the basis of reviews I expected it to be heavier than it seems. And its relative quiet operation came as a pleasant surprise. Only giving it four stars is harsh: really it's a 4.5 and if one judges purely on value for money, a five.

Good Value for Money
After reading several reviews sites I decided to take the plunge. My old vacuum had just about had it.
The Vax Mach 7 arrived within two days. Assembly is only two screws for the handle. I was using it within minutes.
I found the noise level quite acceptable and the tools were adequate. Yes as others have said it's on the heavy-ish side, but I think that it gives it a reassuring feel of a solid well build machine. I was dismayed at the sheer amount of muck that started flying into the vacuum. Just goes to show you never know what's lucking on the floor. The only thing I would say is that there is too much suction when using the tools. The pipe tends to shrink because of the suction so you have to fight it out again. It would be nice if there was a control to alter the power of suction.

Overall I'm really happy with my purchase and at £99 it represents good value for money.

Ultra Powerful Cleaning!
After having several upright Dysons which kept losing suction, I searched the internet to find an alternative. This one had the most positive reviews so I took a chance and bought it.
I have to say, I couldn't believe how well it cleaned my carpets. I'd vacuumed with my Dyson DC07 earlier that day and when this came I did it again and couldn't believe how much more dust was sucked up by the Mach 7. My carpets look like new! It looks well built, slightly on the heavy side, but not much more than my Dyson.
The only part that I can say has a downside is the plastic extention wands as, being used to the metal ones on the Dyson, seem a bit flimsy and not sturdy enough. The hose for the stairs could be a foot longer as it only just reaches the top step at a push, apart from that, I love this vacuum and I am really pleased I bought it.
With a six year guarantee, you can't go wrong, but make sure you register your extended 6 year guarantee within 28 days of purchase otherwise you just get a year's worth.

To Be Avoided Like The Plague !
This machine has been selling at 1/2 price for a reason not only is it heavy and unwieldy but it causes damage to hard floors also there's no suction when not using the brushes, Best forgotten
