Editorial reviews
Amazon.co.uk ReviewTruncated to a slim 11 episodes as a result of the writers’ strike that was ongoing in America during its production,
Heroes’ second season nonetheless packs enough in to keep the momentum rolling on one of the most exciting Stateside shows of the moment.
Heroes is, at heart, the comic book tale of a varied group of people, each with special powers that they struggle to come to terms with. With such powers, of course, come troubling foes and situations to face, and that proves to be the case here. So this time, we pick up four months after the events of the first series, and there’s the small matter of the Shanti virus to contend with. This provides the main thrust for the series’ story arc, and allows room for several interesting sub-plots to develop too.
Yet while, in the world of Heroes, you suspect that this second series will never rank with the best, there’s easily enough here to justify the asking price, and the show emerges easily with its reputation intact. Even when it’s not at the top of its game, Heroes is exciting, interesting and polished entertainment. --Jon Foster

Have they run out of good idea's?I never really got into the first season much although I did watch it. I thought it was medeocre all the way until the final 3 or 4 episodes and then I felt myself finally getting sucked in. Unfortuneatly, the second season is worse and it seems to be struggling for ideas.
What fans of Heroe's continually say, is that they prefer it's fast moving plot to that of the slower lost series. However, because Hereo's story develops so fast it seems to run out of suspense half way through the series. In this seconmd series, the story just doesnt get going at all. The main villian is season 2 doesnt seem menacing at all. Its not that it's boring, but its not exactly must-watch TV either.
Once again, I watched the full season but only because there was nothing else on TV at the time.

DisappointingI loved season 1 and expected great things from season 2. It started promising and got better, but i feel it didn't really lead anywhere (i suspect due to the writers strike). This i could forgive but i feel the final episodes were rushed an as a result the story didn't really flow. With the start of season 3 it seemed as though season 2 had basically been "papered over" with lots of things not resolved and some things completely ignored. The continuity basically was shot to hell. The only saviour is season 3 is very good and so far has consistently held my interested.
Season 1 great, season 2 not great, season 3 awesome. My advice to anyone who has seen season 1 is stick with it, power through season 2 and get on to season 3!

Good fun but not completeI rate this a four for the fun of watching it.
I rate this a two for the fact that this is NOT the complete second series. This is only the first half of it. In fact, the title is just plain wrong.

Not as good as the first, but still goodSeason 1 was always going to be a tough act to follow, and perhaps unsurprisingly, season 2 comes off as inferior to it's predecessor. Being half the length does't help either, but there's a noticable lack of focus to this season, and it takes a while before the central story appears.
However, I feel it's being slightly exaggerated as to how bad this season is. Rest assured, if you liked season 1, you'll find plenty to enjoy here. The mythology and background of the world introduced in season 1 is given more depth, and complexities are added.
So, while this season is perhaps not as good as the first, I still found it to be enjoyable, intruiging and, once it gets going, exciting.

Unenjoyable, unfortunately. After genuinely enjoying the first series, this and the subsequent series are both a huge let-down.
With the only character with any substance (or core consistency) being Hiro, the second and third series has shown Heroes for the ditzy fad, deep down, you always knew it was. A sad demise for what is now indulgent, cliche-riddled, poorly acted piffle.
Watch The Wire instead.
