Memphis Minnie - Original Mistress
Like Elmore James, Memphis Minnie has a signature style that is totally infectious. From first to last every track is never less than good - in fact that's the only possible musical criticism - too much of a good thing! Sound quality, if not up to the standards of a specialist label like Yazoo or Old Hat, is pretty good. Sony have resisted the temptation to apply too much digital processing.
