br /Up until now we've a seen a small group battling against the evil Cronos corporation and their mutant Zoanoids. Episode 24 starts a year after the last one, and Cronos has won.
br /
br /We are shown how governments across the world are destroyed by Zoanoids which have infiltrated society, democracies have fallen and Cronos now govern the world. Zoanoids are now a part of everyday life - we are treated to the bizarre sight of a Zoanoid rock concert! Becoming a Zoanoid is now advertised, it's promoted as a lifestyle choice and `processing' to enhance your life is offered for free.

br /What is left of the original group live a stagnating existence in hiding. A bit of dialogue explains the events of the last year and it does seem a bit strange that it's only now that Mizuki realises that her family believe her to have died at the mountain twelve months ago!

br /With little going on during the first episode, the series concentrates once again on character development. There's lots of reflection over what they've lost as they try to maintain hope that Sho and Makashima are still alive. There are plenty of tears and pent up emotion as they are imprisoned by their safe-house and feeling useless.
br /
br /There is some degree of hope offered to the viewer though, a resistance group exists - and something is recovered from the wreck of the ancient relic.
br /
br /The end itself is part beautiful and part unresolved, but that won't come as any surprise to fans of the Manga (graphic novel) series, as this Anime only covers around a third of the material explored in the comics. I only hope that the animated series is continued at some point and picks up where it left off.
br /
br /Having said that though - by the end of this DVD, the world is a very different place compared to the very first episode. A group of friends fought hard and by the last episode all they long for is to be reunited - will it happen? You'll have to watch this to find out.

br /In a nutshell: By the end of the last episode you know that you've experienced an epic adventure which on the surface looks like a basic `good versus evil' violent adventure - but the truth is that Guyver: Biobooster Armour handles the complexities of human sacrifice and loss with an emotional depth you rarely see in the genre. This explains why the series is often enjoyed by older anime fans, especially those who, like myself, watched the shorter animated series of the late `eighties/early `nineties. It's a chance to revisit a well loved series and find it even more absorbing than before.
