VocalisationIs it just me.........or does anyone else find Keith Jarrett's 'vocalisation' on these DVD's intensely irritating? There is no doubting that the musicianship on show here is first class and beyond reproach, but for me it is spoilt by Jarrett's sounding's-off! For this reason and this reason alone I have rated the performance only 4 stars.

standard issue for all Jarrett followersA fairly essential addition to any Keith Jarrett fans collection. If you are not a fan of going to the large concert halls and trying to get a glimpse of Mr Jarrett from row Z then this DVD is for you.Musically i can't add anything to the many reviews for the various standards albums that Jarrett has in his catalogue other than to say he is superb. As these concerts were recorded in 1986 they catch Jarrett at his very finest. As always, he manages to breathe new life into old tunes and make them sound fresh and invigorating. As you would expect from ECM,the sound quality is superb despite being recorded at a large concert venue, the picture quality,in the close ups is superb also. The only slight negative is the master/distance shots are not in particulalry sharp focus but it's such a minor point as virtually all other footage is in close up.It is obviously a proffessionally made film with overlapping shots as the soloists change emphasis and no shots of the camera men themselves either. The real joy though is to see the master himself at work - the facial contortions, the vocal harmonising, the unusual stance at the piano, the unorthodox way of changing chords and the odd hand movements make this a great study of a true artist deeply immersed in his work. With the running time well over three hours this really does give great value for money and praise to ECM for releasing such a great value package. An absoloute must for all fans of Keith jarrett and his art.
