La canción tiene influencias de los años 1980 con efectos electrónicos y sintetizadores de voz, Pharrel Williams canta algunas frases. La canción se filtró con una mala calidad en el 2007 y el 21 abril de 2008, a tan solo una semana del lanzamiento del álbum, la canción se encontraba completa en la web con una buena calidad junto con otras cinco canciones del disco.[2] br / br /Acerca de la canción, Madonna ha dicho lo siguiente:[6] br /Va a ser una gran canción para hacer en directo. Puedo ver a toda la gente saltando. Es la canción definitiva en plan 'dame todo lo que tengas, no trates de pararme' y también una gran canción para hacer ejercicio. br /MadonnaThe Sun br / br /La canción es considerada como la más apta para las pistas de baile del álbum, la letra trata sobre nunca esperar nada de los demás y tomar la iniciativa personalmente. También es una especie de advertencia cuando Madonna canta "no one's gonna stop me now" (nadie va a detenerme ahora).[2] br / br /En un principio la canción sería la que daría nombre a "Hard Candy", es decir, "Give It to Me" era el nombre definitivo para el undécimo álbum de estudio de Madonna el cual tenía exclusivamente la tematica del boxeo con fotografías basadas en esa tematica las cuales fueron tomadas por Giovanni Bianco y el cinturon de M-dolla (Madonna) con el entonces nombre del nuevo álbum "Give It to Me"; sin embargo, drasticamente Madonna decidió cambiar la tematica exclusiva de boxeo y añadirle los caramelos, posiblemente esta decisión la tomó por la canción "Candy Shop" la cual es una de las preferidas de Madonna en el álbum.[7

Who's a clever girl then?
You have to hand it to Madonna, she's a marketing genius! Proving once again that what you lose on the swings you gain on the round-a-bouts, this "Girlie Show" inspired maxi-single serves up 8 mouth-wateringly delicious remixes, all of which re-interpret the pomp and pageantry of "Give It To Me" in a completely different way! You would be hard-pushed not to find something to your liking here! Detractors will find fault, of course, but you don't last 25 years in the harsh music industry without learning a thing or two about how to please your audience and corner the market! An astute business move indeed!

Madonna, The best ever!
Give it to me is one of the best tracks off the Hard Candy album. Madonna yet again has out done herself and proved that she is indeed the queen of pop!. Fantastic remixes by Paul Oakenfold and Eddie Amador(cd2). Madonna sweeps the floor with all the wannabes out there and never lets her fans down. She comes back each time stronger and powerful than ever before! br /Keep it up Madge I love you !!!x

"Give It 2 Me" is awesome!
Absolute ace Madonna single, it is the best track on her album. Can`t quite understand how anybody dislikes this as it`s so good! It will be a mega hit, though it might not beat McFly to the top of the charts - reason, bad bad people buying McFly!! Stop right now and BUY Madonna`s single! Go on!!!!!!!!!

fantastic track better than 4 minutes
it has pace,rythm,And originality...what more do you need? br /it should have gone straight to number one in the uk charts but instead went to #9. br /her album Hard Candy is being played a lot at the moment...i cant get enough of it...i find all the tracks upbeat and fun while not her greatest album it is a class act from Maddie. br /and this is one of the best tracks on the album. br /may she release Devil wouldn't recognise you and Miles Away as they are classic songs that demand release as future singles!!!
