Amazon.co.uk ReviewFor most bands, the process of experimentation involves infusing more traditional song structures with weirder, or less familiar sonic elements. Not so for Iowa’s Slipknot. iAll Hope Is Gone/i, the metal neuftet’s fourth full-length, finds them further mining the seam that produced 2004’s iVol 3: The Subliminal Verses/i, adulterating their caustic, percussion-heavy take on thrash metal with acoustic guitars and anthemic choruses. Present too, though, is a heaviness that harkens back to 2001’s aggressive iIowa/i, meaning the likes of "Psychosocial" and "Dead Memories" mix big, inclusive vocal hooks with bulldozing low-end and savage percussion breakdowns set to arcane time signatures. Nor is it all set to formula: "Butcher’s Hook", for instance, sounds nothing like anything in Slipknot’s catalogue to date. It is a slamming funk-metal track not unlike The Rollins Band, with broiling anti-establishment lyrics and a huge call-and-response chorus. The occasional Nickelback-like chorus might appall the diehards, but Slipknot are still stretching themselves, and iAll Hope Is Gone/i stands up to anything in their catalogue. i--Louis Pattison/i

decisions, decisionsThe first thing that struck me when i heard this was that it sounded heavier than anything they have done in a while, after a while it dawned on me that it wasnt actually as heavy as i thought, some of the bands early anger has gone but as i have said before,if you aint angry ,dont fake it.
br /Anyway,this is slipknots fourth album, well fourth that is easy to get anyway,it isnt their best,i still feel iowa is their most complete album, this album seems to channel corey taylors other band, stone sour into the mix more than ever before and the results are mixed.
br /When the album slams with its metal wrath few can ever dream of touching the 18 legged machine that is slipknot, great songs are scattered around this album, there is very obvious dross, the bonus tracks are poor but shouldnt be judged against the strength of the album,'snuff' is pretty pathetic and sounds like something stone sour threw out of the studio.
br /It is easy to say with tongue in cheek that this album proves that all hope is gone for the lads or not,in my eyes its a good album but doesnt rest as a masterpiece, worth buying though.

The best yet?Slipknot have come a long way since their first album which had a very raw but yet programmed feel to it. You can tell with their last offering that they have been left to do what they do best. 'Subliminal Verses' was an outstanding album and one that was always going to be difficult to follow up. I know there are alot of people that will disagree with me when I say that it was their best album as alot of true 'maggots' believe Iowa was Slipknots pinnacle.
br /That aside they still had to push the boudaries with their next album and with 'All Hope is Gone' they have succeeded. Slipknot fans will know what to expect. Gritty vocals and hard stomach churning riffs that only Slipknot know how to do.
br /To those who refuse to listen to Slipknot because they wear 'silly' masks... you need to get over yourself. Take yourself to a dark room and have a quiet word. Slipknot is a band made up of nine very talented musicians and if you can see past the theatrical stagewear you wont regret it.

Give it a Good try-you might be surprisedWith many bad reveiws on here i thought i would write one so here it is. though i beleive and this is my personal oppinion Iowa was there best album a violent, agressive, powerful and hate fuelled masterpiece. this album shows that slipknot has matured in there music and tried something new. In the eyes of many fans they have sold out or become soft-metal i do not beleive this because many of the members of the band have said this is the album where we did excactly what we wanted to do. so such tracks as dead memories and snuff have a certain stone sour feeling to them because of corey singing voice it does have some amazing heavy slipknot music underneath. so my advice is that give a good try before you simply say this isn't slipknot. so i'll give this album a 5 star rating. right then i'm off for a brew.

Possibly the best band ever! This is an absolutely phenominal album from true rock legends. Its worth getting just for 'Psychosocial' alone. However be warned. This album does not follow on in the trend of Iowa, it delves further into the more varied style present on the subliminal verses album. Some of the tracks such as 'Snuff'are ballads and will not appeal to full on metal heads who loved iowa. Personally i am not a huge fan of iowa and much prefer Sliopknots more tuneful stylings of the subliminal verses and all hope is gone. it appears to me that Corey Taylor has confused Slipknot with his other band Stonesour and songs such as 30/30 150 from come what(ever) may would have suited Slipknots heavier style more so than stone sour and songs like snuff should have been done by stonesour. In conclusion there is definately some elements of this album for true deathmetal lovers but be warned this album is no reincarnation of Iowa. Still, it is a kickass album and its definately one i recommend!

Bag of poop!Slipknot have sold out! Money seems to have robbed them of the anger and guts that made them worth listening to in the first place. They seem to be trying to cash in on the popularity of the current emo fad!
br /A very trendy and crappy record, if your a fan of proper metal then don't buy this...
