comes one of the greatest albums. It quite simply doesn't get any better than this. One of their best. Awesome.

17 Years Of Hurt...
OK, so it's not quite back to the heights of Master of Puppets or even ...And Justice For All, but we'll take it after the horrors of Load and Reload. Several great songs that hark back to those golden days without trying to sound TOO much like them, and no really weak tracks. Death Magnetic suffers a little from one of St Anger's problems - namely that some of the tracks are far longer than the material deserves - but overall a very good album and easily their best since 1991. If you've drifted away from Metallica, this should bring you back into the fold!

Back in Town
Full of energy, rhythm and riffs, just what we were waiting for. Finally they are back into business. This album has a place in your shelf.

and on the 8th day Metallica created God ...
i am so far behind the curve with this one it is embarrassing (how many people have submitted reviews before me?!?!?) ... But here we go: anticipation and foreboding are a funny old mixture, but the collective fears of the global metallica tribe have proven unfounded - this album is a killer. I find it odd how many reviewers have harked back to the mid-1980s and compared Death Magnetic unfavourably with Master of Puppets - the comparison is disingenuous simply due to the passage of time (20 plus years!) and the inevitable fact that the principal song writers (Larz and Jaymz) today have vastly different perspectives on the world around them. Somewhat like the old chestnut of comparing (unfavourably it typically seems) Motorhead's Ace of Spades with all their cool records after 1986 or something ... it's apples vs. pears folks - incomparable in any objective sense (and Ace of Spades DOES have a few fillers!!). Metallica have released a strong collection of songs: fast, loud, abrasive and a little bit reflective also. Normal Metalli-service has been resumed PS. on the 9th day God created Rick Rubin ...

Return to form but
A great return to form finally they are playing thrash again. But i do not think that they will ever play like they did in the 80's. A definite return to form we have seen highlights include end of the line judas kiss, all nightmare long. The mixing isn't great and sometimes it sounds too loud loudness wars. No one makes albums like this in 2000-2009 we shold be grateful a damn good album nothing more nothing less. Evile are good but i don't like the british voice.
