br /
br /1)The sound has been squashed so everything sounds LOUD. This initially gives the impression of more detail and will sound good in the car, but in terms of at home listening gets tiring very quickly. There's no space in between the sounds. Shame.
br /
br /2) Rivers of Babylon was sourced from vinyl - I could tell at first because there is a different tone on this to other tracks (could this have been improved at mastering stage?) and there are signs of vinyl wear/mistracking at various points. There is also some vinyl rumble on the fade out. Vinyl can sound great and warm, so I wonder if some of the sound issues on this are down to the turntable set up used, and maybe too much declicking/denoiseing???

br /Rivers of Babylon was the track I was looking forward to the most, and it is a tad on the repetitive side, but at least there is some new stuff to hear in there. It is also shows how very good Frank Farian/his engineers were at cut and splice editing.
br /
br /3) Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord also contains in addition the alternate lyrics that can be heard on the Oh My Lord section on the 1988 remix LP.

br /Interesting to pick up for some rarities, but if the compression used is indicative of the remasters I'd suggest you stick to the vinyl and legally copy it to CD yourself. Make sure you keep the originals though to stay legal.
There have been many unofficial collections of Boney M rareties and long versions over the years, but this is the first time that many of these long versions have been released officially. To me, it's great to be finally able to buy some of these tracks on a legitimate release.
br /Firstly , 'Help Help' in its full 6 minute version is at last made available. This track was included only on the UK version of Boney Ms first album 'Take The Heat Off Me'. This replaced 'Baby Do You Wanna Bump'(Boney Ms first single) which was on the European version but could not be included on the UK edition as it was released on a different label in the UK.
br /The long versions of 'Rivers Of Babylon' and 'Mary's Boy Child' are worth a listen as is the full length version of 'Ribbons Of Blue' which was insanely edited on Boney Ms 1979 album 'Oceans Of Fantasy'.
br /This is a lovely collected of extended mixes well worth the budget price.
