Product DescriptionTim Roth, Liv Tyler, William Hurt, Edward Norton Director: Louis Leterrier
Amazon.co.uk ReviewA more accessible and less heavy-handed movie than Ang Lee's 2003 iHulk/i, Louis Leterrier's iThe Incredible Hulk/i is a purely popcorn love affair with Marvel's raging, green superhero, as well as the old television series starring Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as the beast within him. Edward Norton takes up where Eric Bana left off in Lee's version, playing Bruce (that's the character's original name) Banner, a haunted scientist always on the move. Trying to eliminate the effects of a military experiment that turns him into the Hulk whenever his emotions get the better of him, Banner is hiding out in Brazil at the film's beginning. Working in a bottling plant and communicating via email with an unidentified professor who thinks he can help, Banner goes postal when General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross and a small army turn up to grab him. Intent on developing whatever causes Banner's metamorphoses into a weapon, Ross brings along a quietly deranged soldier named Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth), who wants Ross to turn him into a supersoldier who can take on the Hulk. The adventure spreads to the U.S., where Banner hooks up with his old lover (and Ross' daughter), Betty (Liv Tyler), and where the Hulk takes on several armed assaults, including one in a pretty unusual location: a college campus. The film's action is impressive, though the computer-generated creature is disappointingly cartoonish, and a second monster turning up late in the movie looks even cheesier. Norton is largely wasted in the film--he's essentially a bridge between sequences where he disappears and the Hulk rampages around. As good an actor as he is, Norton doesn't have the charisma here to carry those scenes in which one waits impatiently for the real show to begin. --iTom Keogh/i

The Hulk looks and is incredible on Blu-Ray!The two main things that make this film better then the last Hulk movie are that it has a decent villain and more action. Tim Roth makes a good bad guy as he has proven in Tim Burton's Planet Of The Apes and Edward Norton is excellent as Bruce Banner. In fact I would go as far as to say this is my 2nd favourite film starring Edward Norton with Fight Club being his best. Liv Tyler looks perfect as Betty and William Hurt makes a good General. The special effects have improved a fair bit over Ang Lee's 2003 Hulk. The fight between the Hulk and the Abomination is fantastic. In fact The Incredible Hulk is so good it will be difficult to make a better Hulk movie. There is a good link between this and the Ironman at the end of the film which could mean there will be an Avengers in the near future!

A Good, Solid Superhero AdventureCutting free from Ang Lee's 2003 'Hulk' film, 'The Incredible Hulk' is an admirable attempt to restart the Hulk big screen franchise with a new creative team. One thing is certain - this is a much better film than the earlier effort, both in terms of trying to bring the spirit of the comics to the screen and in telling a coherent story. It's surprising how sparingly the Hulk is used here in the first half of the film, with the emphasis on Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) on the run from the authorities. When he does make his presence felt, the results are impressive - particularly in the big fight between Hulk and the Abomination. It's very difficult to translate a character like the Hulk to the screen, but this film manages it - as well as providing plenty of nods to the much-loved 1970s TV version. Ultimately, director Louis Leterrier has provided a highly enjoyable comic book movie which, although not quite up to the standards of contemporaries such as 'The Dark Knight' or 'Iron Man', is so much more than the hollow effects-fest it could easily have been.

br /The Blu Ray disc is packed with some great special features, too. Special mention should go to the options to view certain effects heavy scenes (such as Hulk's clash with the military on college grounds) in various forms - live action backdrops, green screen, animatics, and so on - which is an excellent way of demonstrating how such technically-complex scenes are put together. The film itself looks fantastic, and this would be a great 'demo disc' for any collection.
