Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman Director: Timur Bekmambetov

Amazon.co.uk Review
As the impresario behind gravity-defying Russian blockbuster iNight Watch/i, it's inevitable that Hollywood would come calling for Timur Bekmambetov. With a studio budget and an international cast, including two Oscar winners, Timur cooks up a Hong Kong-styled actioner bursting with fast cars and big guns. Our unlikely hero is mild-mannered Chicago accountant Wesley Gibson (iAtonement's/i James McAvoy), whose father died when he was a tot. Wesley never learned to stand up for himself, and his girlfriend, boss, and best buddy all take advantage until the seductive Fox (Angelina Jolie) rescues him from a sharpshooter named Cross (iThe Pianist’s/i Thomas Kretschmann). After which, she whisks him away to a mansion on the edge of town to meet the other members of the Fraternity, where leader Sloan (Morgan Freeman) informs Wesley that Cross, a rogue agent, executed his father. Sloan believes Wesley has the goods to take him out, so he undergoes the Fraternity's brutal training regimen (Marc Warren and Common dish up some of the abuse). When he's ready, Sloan sends him out to fulfill his duty, but matters become complicated when Wesley finds out someone isn't telling the truth, leading our former milquetoast to exact an elaborate revenge. For those who've been following McAvoy's career to date, iWanted/i will surely come as a surprise. In adapting Mark Millar's comic series, Timur offers buckets of blood and a smidgen of depth, but fans of iThe Matrix/i and iMr. and Mrs. Smith/i will want to give this one a look. --iKathleen C. Excelent!!
A great quality for this edition. Estoy felizmente contento de la adquisición de esta película en este formato. Muchas más tendrían que llevarlo. Queda realmente bonito. Y el vendedor al que lo adquirí, una persona seria y responsable. Recomiendo más compras a este vendedor.

Do reviewers here even watch the films they're reviewing?!
If you like the Matrix or you like comic book films, youll probably get a kick out of this. It's not deep but it's very stylish all the actors acquit themselves well. Some reviewers on here just don't seem to get it complain that its just a dumb action flick - er, DUH - isnt that the point isn't that why people want to watch it - not everyone wants Bergman Kurosawa 24hrs a day just because you want to watch a dumb action flick for a few hours doesnt make you dumb! Oh yeah to the reviewer below who posts a 2 star review asking why one character saves another who theyre supposed to be fighting against - er, hello, have you even watched the film you're reviewing??? To give a film 2 stars call the director dumb when you either havent watched the film all the way to the end or havent even got the intelligence to grasp the simple plot of the film seems even DUMBER !

A fast moving 'shoot em up' . . . . a chick flick it ain't !
I don't know the comic book, so don't know if it's close or not, so not rating it as a 'purist'...just somebody who saw the trailer on TV and thought it looked like a great film - and yes it was. Sure it's far fetched (curving bullets etc) but then so is 007, I think a few reviewers have taken it a bit too seriously. After all it is not meant to be a factual costume drama - just a 110 minute adrenalin rush. So James McAvoy puts on an American accent as one reviewer commented, wasn't a problem, I just thought how well his career had done since Starter for Ten. And Anjelina Jolie was sensational as Fox, forget all the tabloid stuff and just enjoy her in the movie. There is plenty more action than you see in the trailer - luckily it's not one of those movies where the only good bits were in the trailer. Following Wesley's training, when he could grab the bobbin from an operating weaving machine meaning he was ready, reminded me of the old David Carradine Kung Fu series when he had to snatch the pebbles from his master's hand to prove he was ready. If you like car chases, shootings and special effects this is for you - if not, just get something else (this ain't no Rom-Com !!!). Look out for Marc Warren (Danny Blue from Hustle) he meets quite a gruesome end. As a few reviewers have said, if you liked the first Matrix film you will love this, doesn't get boring at any point - four stars for pure entertainment value. Looks great on my Blu-Ray version, but have not seen a normal DVD version so can't say how much better the quality is.

Not 'Wanted'
One star...This is very very BAD!! br /One of the WORST films I've seen in ages; an insult to everyone's intelligence. br /Ill-conceived Hollywood trash that lacks continuity and is about as believable as the most ludicrous thing you can't think of....and that is ludicrous! br /Don't waste your time or money. You have been warned!! br /

Just what I Wanted!
First thing I have to say is PLEASE ignore all the 1 and 2 star reviews. Just as in a few movies I have reviewed recently, I think these people just do not get it. The first thing to say that this is an adaptation of one of the most popular graphic novels ever. If you take this into account (and therefore don't take the movie too seriously) then you should be in for a rip-roaring 2 hours of over-the-top Matrix style action. The story itself differs from the original graphic novel, however it really works for me. It's the story of a guy stuck in a dead end relationship, terrible job and life whose life is changed in the blink of an eye. With a good plot, good soundtrack, loads of action, good performances and a good twist at the end I highly recommend this movie. On Blu-Ray it must be said it looked absolutely superb... bullet and glass smashing sequences looked absolutely stunning! On this version the packaging is really nice and no bigger than other blu ray boxes, so if you have the choice get this version!
