Well..I like it!So...after reading the comments, i was tempted to pack the game up and send it back. I'm glad I didnt!
I installed the game a few hours ago..so this obviously isnt a full review. Firstly my PC has no problem running this game. Its custome built and I wont bore you with specs. Suffice to say it meets minimum requirements + runs windowns XP (service pack 3). Whilst I do feel it dosnt take full advantage of my hardware, ultimetly the game is more than its graphics alone.
So..installing the game. Yes..its long and tedious with numerous securtiy features..all of which have been discussed by other reviews.
Once that's done you then need to set up your game. Its no diffrent from any previous GTA game. Plenty of customisable options...but, it seems here the game wants to make its own decisions rather than let me make them when it comes to the video options. Whilst i can get it to recognise my set up with no problem, it just wont let me max out the game graphics...and by this I mean it physically wont do it.So, I let the game use its auto set up options and off I went!
All is forgiven when the game starts up. Its looks "great" even on medium graphics setting..but as I said, there is more to a game than what it looks like. It plays and feels like previous GTA titles (as it should) and feels instantly familiar but oh so new at the same time.
2 hours in and I know this game could well become one of my fave games ever.
To sum it up..
If you played the previous GTA games on PC and enjoyed them, you'll be playing it anyway no matter what the negative views have to say.
If your new to the GTA series you may well like this game. Dont buy it for your kids. This is not for under 18s..its for mature players only.
The previous posts about the game crashing + game performance..well I've had no problems so far, but rockstar themselves have stated a small portion of users have a stability issue (lets be honest..every PC is diffrent) and they are working on a patch right now.
Give it a go..I suspect you'll enjoy it! I know I am!

I ve been waiting more then 1 year for this gameI hade the impression that the graphics resolutions was at 640x480 when I was playng the game, the graphics were terrible , when I hade look my settings were 1440 x 900.
with every think overclocked to the limit cpu ,ram , and 8800gt I was getting only 9 Frames per second
I'm able to run crysis at 32 frames per seconde on high settings and the latest Call of Duty at 39 frames per seconds also with high settings.
If you buy this game you will have terrible frame rates even at medium settings.and graphics from 1990

Brilliant gameI think that this is a brilliant game just like all the other GTA's. I've been playng it solidly for three days and have loved every second. It has a great new phisics engine and more realistic car handeling, you now have to brake for the corners. Having the camera controlled by the mouse while driving took a bit of getting used to but now I prefer it to the old fixed camera.
I know alot of people have had lots of glitches and frame rate issues but for me it runs great with no problems or slow down whatsoever. I've been playing the game at 1050x1680 with all the vidio settings maxed out except for textures (medium) and draw distance (33) and my frames per second have never dropped below 29. And yes it does look much better than on a 360.
For me the installation was a slight inconveniance but nothing more, I did to change the Windows start up settings though, to stop the Rockstar Social Club automatically loading every time Windows starts. The only thing I don't like about it is that there is no anti-aliasing setting, not even when I tried to override it using the Nvidia control panel. This does slightly spoil the otherwise excellent graphics.
Due to the number of people who have had problems, my advice to anyone who hasn't bought this game yet is wait until it's been patched. But it is worth getting, when it works it is a great game 10/10.

VERY POOR GAMEThe hassle to get the game just to run is appalling. You have to register for three different accounts! and install umpteen updates and install new graphics drivers! What a waste of would should be a straight forward great game. The frame rate is terrible. The textures were missing. Don't buy it yet until it's BEEN PATCHED! Just don't! Crysis was childs play compared to this, any other game is childs play! Go play it on a console!

Great GTA 4 so farHi all, I am kind of suprise that you guys find so much problems with the game. I bought the game today ...and guess what, it runs like charm, no problem at all, I put everything to maximum, except texture I have to choose medium (dont know why), have lots of fun as usual with GTA.
My Pc is not even quad-core, its dual-core 3.0Ghz, dual 8800 (768Mb each), and 4Gb of ram.
Highly recommend to anyone who is a serious fan of GTA
