iThe Dark Knight/i arrives with tremendous hype (best superhero movie ever? posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger?), and incredibly, it lives up to all of it. But calling it the best superhero movie ever seems like faint praise, since part of what makes the movie great--in addition to pitch-perfect casting, outstanding writing, and a compelling vision--is that it bypasses the normal fantasy element of the superhero genre and makes it all terrifyingly real. Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is Gotham City's new district attorney, charged with cleaning up the crime rings that have paralysed the city. He enters an uneasy alliance with the young police lieutenant, Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman), and Batman (Christian Bale), the caped vigilante who seems to trust only Gordon--and whom only Gordon seems to trust. They make progress until a psychotic and deadly new player enters the game: the Joker (Heath Ledger), who offers the crime bosses a solution--kill the Batman. Further complicating matters is that Dent is now dating Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal, after Katie Holmes turned down the chance to reprise her role), the longtime love of Batman's alter ego, Bruce Wayne.p/ In his last completed role before his tragic death, Ledger is fantastic as the Joker, a volcanic, truly frightening force of evil. And he sets the tone of the movie: the world is a dark, dangerous place where there are no easy choices. Eckhart and Oldman also shine, but as good as Bale is, his character turns out rather bland in comparison (not uncommon for heroes facing more colorful villains). Director/co-writer Christopher Nolan (iMemento/i) follows his critically acclaimed iBatman Begins/i with an even better sequel that sets itself apart from notable superhero movies like iSpider-Man 2/i and iIron Man/i because of its sheer emotional impact and striking sense of realism--there are no suspension-of-disbelief superpowers here. At 152 minutes, it's a shade too long, and it's much too intense for kids. But for most movie fans--and not just superhero fans--iThe Dark Knight/i is a film for the ages. --iDavid Horiuch/i

Just a note on the packaging...
Don't let the jiffy bag put you off. The actual mask comes in tip top shape. And its flat enough to tessellate with your other DVDs with out the cardboard box. All My friends have been very impressed with it and this is a great way to collect one of the greatest films ever made.

Amazing
I bought this film for my husband becasue he so desperatly wanted it after going to see it twice at the cinema. I was not particularly fussed. However i have to say it is an amazing film, it did not disappoint,i was stuck to the tele till it finished, and my husband is still thanking me for buying it! If you havent seen the film, trust me it is worth buying. Batman and the Joker like you have never seen them before.

Gutted!
Like pretty much everyone else that bought this batmask, the flimsy outer card-case was damaged when it got to me..a shame as some have mentioned as the batmask itself is really nice. I sent it back to Indigostarfish (had to pay postage which i would then be refunded)in december but have still not recieved refund even after contacting them about this..gutted...

batman dark knight special edition dvd set
A Fantastic case, shaped like batman's mask, opens out to display the two discs. The film is as we all know is fantastic with the Joker finally becoming a convincingly messed up individual without all the theatrical facial prosthetics of the previous characters. Gone are the slapstick elements and we have a much darker and mature Batman film which will please the grown ups and does seem to be the way things are going recently e.g 007. So in a nutshell, a great film in a clever and very collectable case delivered in two days just before Christmas ..hats off to Amazon!

Very pleased
I'm sure everybody is already aware of the quality of the film and Ledger's penultimate performance and the acclaim they both recieved. br / br /The casing is impressive and is just as good as the Iron Man DVD I purchased in the same style. Would recommend to anybody.
